| ANNUAL SCARECROW CONTEST One of the most joyous times for a small country town is Harvest time. To celebrate what is cherished and enjoyed by everyone, Carleton Place holds a Scarecrow contest every year, to be admired along Bridge Street. People around town join in with porch decorations for Harvest. The photos were taken in 1997, and they are just candid shots, half of them taken while a steady rain streamed onto the contestants, and also on the farmers produce, or the festival activities. Everyone had a wonderful time, anyway. Most of these photos say "non-commercial share-alike" in their properties. This means that anyone may save the images for themselves, but not for profit, just for play. If you do not see "non-commercial share alike" on an image, either I have forgotten the particular scarecrow, or there are families in the image. |
